Fragile and finished ground: ground pressure counts

Freshly seeded lawns, flower beds, historic paving, clay soils after rain. These are situations where the problem is not moving the material: it’s doing so without destroying what lies beneath. A machine that is too heavy on the wrong surface leaves ruts, breaks the surface, and forces a second restoration job.

What ground pressure really measures

Ground pressure tells you how many kilograms the machine pushes on every square centimeter of terrain. The lower it is, the less the machine sinks and the less it damages the surface. The C200 exerts 0.27 kg/cm² unloaded and 0.51 kg/cm² at full load. These are values that allow you to work where other machines cannot enter without causing damage.

The undercarriage that distributes the weight

This result does not happen by chance. Behind those numbers is an undercarriage designed to distribute the load across the entire length of the track. Three elements work together:

• 280 mm wide tracks, with a calibrated pitch to maximize the contact surface
• Permanently lubricated oscillating rollers, which follow ground irregularities while keeping the track in constant contact with the surface
• Spring tensioning with grease track adjuster, which maintains correct tension even on uneven ground or after temperature changes

The tracks are of the Long Life Cormidi type, built to resist wear on the toughest job sites: gravel, mud, concrete, rocky terrain.

Where the difference shows on the job site

A concrete example: a crew working in the garden of a historic villa needs to carry material from the entrance to the rear of the building, crossing a lawn and a terracotta pathway. At 0.27 kg/cm² unloaded, the C200 travels that route without marking the grass and without scratching the tiles. The load gets where it needs to go, and the site stays clean.

The same applies on slopes, narrow forest paths, embankments, or wet packed-earth surfaces. Low ground pressure reduces the risk of lateral slipping and bogging down, making the machine more stable and controllable even in difficult conditions.

Undercarriage maintenance: minimal and straightforward

The permanently lubricated rollers require no periodic greasing. The grease track adjuster is set using a simple service fitting, without disassembling the undercarriage. Fewer machine stoppages, more hours worked.
